imagine yourself in an array of dark skinned, skinny, welcoming people. the streets are full of motorbikes and buses and small cars and people on bikes. horns honking are nothing unusual, and the air is hot. every person you pass screams, "HELLO! OK!" especially the children. this is jogjakarta.
our hotel is adorable. the bathrooms are treacherous and im pretty sure there was a roach on my foot as i tried to squat. i asked for a guy who works at the hotel to 'come help me in the bathroom.....to come kill a bug for me.' please imagine those hand motions. too bad when we got there it had disappeared! damn roach. this is our first place without ac. it wasnt so bad. just didnt use sheets, ha. the pool we have is so blue and we went swimming right when we arrived. the hotel has food and you order and they bring it out to where ever you are. the service is so nice. we only get one roll of toilet paper. but i dont think ill be using our bathroom again any time soon.
missing the familiar.. but not too much.
