Kolkata was quite the adventure. i will never forget the poverty and the traffic. here is a list of things that i did and should be noted:
- visited mother theresa's home and saw her room.. also saw the bed she passed away in
- ate some delicious indian treats
- sweated all night and day
- saw many deformed and terribly skinny people living on the street
- took at taxi late at night and saw where everyone sleeps, lined up on the sidewalk
- saw a bollywood film at the mall
- ate so much paneer
- tried dosas - special cheese butter dosa yyummm
- got a traditional indian outfit
- walked around town with a washcloth stuffed in my fanny pack to wipe the sweat off my face and neck
- ran into kelly at the mall!!! and bought stuff from the same guy!
- drank tea and took a nap
- had a hard time with taxi drivers
- rode in a 1920s elevator up to our room
- got followed by a few dudes
- constantly had the whites of eyes on me
- saw tons of guys bathing in the streets
- saw people get haircuts on the streets
- went to the indian museum and saw: a whale skeleton, a human fetus in a jar, potatoes in jars, etc
- saw people who lived in shelters on the sidewalks
now we have survived kolkata! we took an overnight train to varanasi.. probably the most intense place we will experience. we have already seen so many cows and goats on the streets! get prepared for the next blog!
