so far the best experience yet has been visiting the elephant sanctuary today. day is really good friends with all the guys that live/work there and hes tight with the elephants too :) we drove out there and day made me walk up to the elephant by myself! she was so sweet. she poked around me with her trunk and let me pet her. ive never been so close to an elephant before! they had about 7 or so elephants that they have rescued from the jungle. people abuse them and hunt them in the jungles. especially in burma. but these elephants are living the life at this sanctuary. next, we went to cut them some banana leaves. it was so hot outside, but the scenery was breathtaking. i was freaking out. there were green rugged mountains and big white fluffy clouds surrounding us.
next we went swimming and i practiced doing a back flip off of the rope swing. terribly unsuccessful. we swam and relaxed for a bit until it was time for the elephants to come swim with us!!! they slowly walked up to us and we fed them little bananas. they had their trunks all over us looking for bananas, haha. they were too cute. they walked into the river and we swam out to them and climbed on their backs. we got to climb all over them, sit on their heads, stand on them, etc. they could have cared less. they just loved the love. it was the most amazing thing ever. to sit atop an elephant! they were so cute and powerful. they guys that live at the sanctuary were hopping from elephant to elephant and climbing all over them, haha. it was insane! i swung on the rope swing and landed on an elephant, softly of course, haha. we swam with them until they were tired of us, haha. gosh it was amazing.
tonight we are going to a place where we get to cook our own food. i cant wait! kanchanaburi is too good to be true. <3
